UBank Design System

Embedding a design system (with a brand re-fresh) at UBank, Australia’s first neo-bank.

 

Challenge

Insufficient digital brand guidelines, fragmented libraries, product silos, design debt, and old tech were impacting delivery velocity, customer experiences and UBank’s ability to scale. With a brand refresh and new design language around the corner it was more important than ever to harmonise operations with a design system.

 
 

Process

*Setting up a new centralised and harmonised design library was an important step to adding accelerant to product teams. However, UBank was not satisfied with the state of the new brand refresh by another agency. Rather than staying blocked, we offered to progress the brand re-fresh that was targeted at millennials. This then provided a clean, digital-first seed for the new DS core team to build the library from.

 
 

Impact

Adoption of the design system and the new refreshed brand language helped the UBank product teams produce and release faster while customers could enjoy more cohesive, accessible experiences that made money simple AF.
